Snowboarding is meant to be an enjoyable activity, in result, most people overlook safety. No matter how much experience that you have on the board, if you do not constantly keep safety in mind, one of these times, you are going to get hurt.

I have put together a few snowboarding safety tips that will help prevent serious injuries on snowboards.

Inspect Your Snowboard

It is important that you thoroughly inspect your board before you get on it. Check for any cracks or anything that could cause your board to malfunction. It is also important to make sure that you have chosen the right snowboard for you. If you need help with that, check out my resource box for a guide to assist you in choosing a snowboard size. Don’t forget to check to make sure that your boarding shoes are being held securely.

It will not take too much time to do a quick inspection of your board. Remember… the only keeping you on top of the snow is the board! Make sure that it completely passes your inspection. If you are totally unsure of what to look for, ask someone! The snowboarding community is a very friendly and helpful community!

Choose the right snowboard clothing

If there is one thing that really gets on my nerves, its when I see someone trading safety for style. Sure… some aspects of snowboarding are all about style and looking good, but do not substitute safety for style!

When choosing goggles, do not go by what has the best design, go by which has the best protection! The sun can literally blind you when you are on the slopes if you do not have proper eye protection. Make sure the goggles or glasses that you choose have a good UV ray protection rating.

Another important thing to take into account when considering snowboarding safety is to remember that THE SNOW IS COLD. I highly suggest that you dress in layers. Im sure you have heard this a lot before, but it is really important. If you are too hot, drop a layer of clothing, that way you cool down a little bit, but not too much. When you start to get cold again, simply throw that other layer of clothing back on! This worked really well for me while I was in the military. I never understood the importance of dressing in layers until I spent my first week in the woods in freezing weather conditions.

When choosing gloves, choose something that is water proof. Again, since I was in the military, I invested in some really good gloves. I would recommend that you pick up some seal skin gloves. They were developed with the Navy Seals in mind. They work wonders for cold, wet conditions- and they are perfect for snowboarding. You can probably still get a pair at Ranger Joes- Google that company, and you will find a lot of nice gloves that will keep your hands warm.

Stay Hydrated and Keep Food In Your Stomach

A lot of people do not realize that even though it is cold, it is still very important to keep drinking water. I was a witness to someone who dehydrated in freezing weather conditions. It was not a pretty sight. Water is your bodies fuel- along with food- and without it, your body will not be able to function! When you are snowboarding, make sure you take water breaks. You will really regret it if you don’t take that advise.

I know how tough it is to pull yourself away from your board, so make sure that you eat a really good breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, especially when you are going to take part in physical activities. I also recommend eating a light lunch. It wouldn’t hurt to bring more food than you need too, because you never know if someone is going to get hurt. Always expect the unexpected!

I hope that you got something out of this article. Snowboarding is supposed to be all fun and games, but it will not be much fun if someone gets hurt! If you take follow the proper snowboarding safety procedures, you will really enjoy yourself!

If you are new to snowboarding and you would like to take advantage of some research that Jason Stepp has done in regard to snowboarding for beginners, check out his blog at Snowboarding-Information For Beginners

Action games seem to be all the rage. Auto theft, driving, taxi cabs, sim games of every kind. Skateboarding games are quite popular with the teenagers, who simulate skateboarding in some of the most wicked conditions out there. Online skateboarding games are received far better than most of the cd or disk games because they are able to interact and play online against other players at the same time they get their thrills from the skateboard action.

There are actually some very good online skateboarding games that can be played for trial time, or even for free, without payment of any kind ever. Most of them let you select your board, the location where they ride the boards and even invite a friend to play with them. They combine flash and several other technologies to permit you to play for free, the games are fairly rapid, and you have the option to add different moves to your skateboarding technique so that you can win additional points in the game.

Several of the premier online skateboarding game sites do charge a fee for their use, however many such sites do not, but are instead traffic, or advertiser driven. That is to say that the traffic to the site, or the clicks on particular ads will make the site owner their fees rather than charging them to the game player.

One such online skateboarding game is located on funny-games.com, which is one of the best out there for drawing in players and for free play. There is no cost to use the site, nothing to download and the skateboarding doesn’t cost either. The advertisements were minimal, not of the popup variety and the play was interesting.

Classic-consoles.com offers the would be player not only online skateboarding games, but also some of the biggest and best of the online board games, as well as sim games and older style board games such as their version of Autopsy, an “Operation” style game where you are the doctor, and backgammon, chess, checkers and several others. The site costs nothing to play. The games are flash based, and take very little time to load or to use. .

Online games in general have become a huge draw for the 10-15 year old crowd, and the best sites are paid by advertising, offering the gamers a free place to play online games as well as to interact with other teens or kids in their age groups. Online skateboarding games are one of many games they offer for free. The controls are easy to use, the games are generally flash driven and the cost is free. What’s not to love about a site like that?

Across the nation, there are thousands of people who are extremely passionate about building and racing remote controlled cars. If you ask one of them how much money they could spend on building a remote controlled car, you will be surprised at the answer. It is possible to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on top notch equipment to create an insanely fast and good looking car.

If you want to get into the hobby of building radio controlled projects, then you will definitely have to spend some money along the way. You will be faced with very expensive components. However, you don’t need to buy expensive parts for your first car. Read on to find out some of the ways that you can save money.

You should never buy cheap supplies just because they are cheap. If this is your first radio controlled car, you want to get an accurate feel for the hobby without spending too much. This is why you want to buy top quality parts that will make for a great car.

At the same time, you may find that the hobby is not for you at all. You may burn out on it after just a few hours of putting together your model. If this is the case, that is another even better incentive to avoid buying expensive parts for your first car. Usually hobbyists will start to invest more money and more time in their 2nd or 3rd car, after they know that they have the expertise to do it right.

The best way to build your first radio controlled car is to buy a kit that includes just the radio components and the motors. The radio control kits only cost 20 or 30 dollars at your local craft store. Buy it before you start to put the car together, so that you can know what dimensions you need to allow for. You can build the car itself from cheap wood and glue (And time. Lots of time.) Go to your local hobby store or lumber store and look for some sort of light wood that you can use to make the car. You will use some sort of epoxy or superglue to hold it all together.

If you would like to take an even less do-it-yourself approach, you could buy a remote control car kit that includes the model for the car. Unless you are a master craftsman, this finished product will probably look better than anything that you could have made from scratch.

These kits are very cheap as well. You won’t get much control over how the car looks, which is a huge advantage of building it on your own from scratch. If you want to make it look a certain way, all you have to do is cut the wood a little bigger or a little smaller. Ultimately it is up to you – both will give you good experience in building remote control cars, so it just depends on how much time you want to spend.

If you tried to race against some of the more advanced cars with your kit assembled car, you would be left in the dust almost instantaneously. Your car definitely won’t have much power and it probably won’t have much in the looks department. However, neither of these is important compared to the valuable thing that the new car has given you: experience.

By sticking with the easy car when you first start getting into the hobby, you will be ahead of the game when you go to build a nice custom car. In addition to this, it will have allowed you to decide whether it is a hobby that you would like to stick with. So even if you are the type that likes to jump headfirst into things, just hold yourself back and stick with the inexpensive car kits.

Easy Camping Recipes Can Add Spice To Camp

To many folks, their favorite easy camping recipes being with instructions on how to use a can open and boil water. While heating canned soup or other type of prepared foods is the easy way to cook while camping, eating canned foods for several days in a row can get old. Additionally, many times people will prefer a healthy meal, not always available from a can. There are many easy camping recipes available and many can be made by using only one stockpot or frying pan.

Not all food eaten while camping has to be bland and unimaginative. Many of the easy camping recipes may taste like a lot of time went into them, when in reality it does not take long to throw many of the meals together. For example, beef stew may not be something many people consider making in a camp, but there are easy camping recipes that make it possible. Season the chunks of beef with garlic and onion and brown them in the bottom of the pot until brown. Then add vegetable soup, from a can, to the pot and allow to simmer until done. Baking potatoes in the fire can make this a complete meal.

No Need For Pizza Delivery

Using a metal bread holder made to make toast over an open fire, toast one side of a slice of bread, buttering it lightly before holding it over the fire. Once lightly browned, cover with spaghetti sauce and cheese, along with desired toppings for one of the easy camping recipes for making pizza without an oven.

Whatever chosen for meals, planning at home can make meal preparation easy and will not require storing leftovers. Consider all foods to be cooked and divide everything into portions before leaving home. By having everything in the right quantity, cooking with easy camping recipes is easier and there will be no need to measure anything in the woods. Be conscious that not all foods can be cooked outdoors and that there are certain precautions that will need to be taken to insure the food is safe to eat.

When cooking in a stockpot, always use the lid as it will help the food cook faster as well as prevent bugs and other flying critters from becoming part of the stew or soup. Additionally, when camping with a group divide up the work making each person responsible for a part of the easy camping recipes to build closer ties as well as not to stick one person with all the cooking duties.

Snowboarding tips

You can browse all the sites you want when you need to find skateboarding tips, but the truth is that most of the sites - although for beginners - tell you all this gibberish and at the end of the day you are still left in the dark, because most of the time you don’t understand what they are saying. That is the truth. They don’t take the time to define a thing and that makes things useless and hard to understand.

The thing you have to understand is that you are able to go downhill facing any direction. You can do this backwards - your toes pointing uphill and the back of your body facing the direction you are traveling. The truth is that it is up to you what you choose.

Let’s look at Uphill Edge. It is very important that you apply pressure to your board’s uphill edge. This means, if you are traveling downhill backwards, the pressure applied will be your toes on the board. This technique is called Toeside and the reason is quite obvious.

So, if you are traveling downhill and facing downhill, your heels will apply the pressure to the board. This is known as heelside. It is very important that pressure is not applied by your toes when facing downhill, because then you will tip over and eat snow.

Stopping a board is similar to the way hockey players stop. All you have to do is manipulate the board so that it becomes perpendicular to the ground and then quickly dig in the uphill edge. Heelside will require you to dig in your heels. In order to slow down, you basically need the same technique, but with less pressure than stopping.

Turning is the most important. Practice by having your board perpendicular to the ground and then apply little pressure. See what happens. Now, in this position you ill pick up speed and go faster. In order to turn all you have to do is dig in your heels. What happens? You turn heelside. If you dug in you toes, it would have caused a toeside turn.

Make sure that you pay attention to your surroundings, because your body goes where you are looking. Your head tends to turn and this is followed by you upper body and in the end, your hips. Try sticking your left or your right hand out. It will assist with your turn.

Make sure that you at least know the basics of snowboarding. Take it slow. If you fall, get up and do it again.

Snowboarding history

It is difficult to pin point one person when saying who built or rode the first snowboard, as many people must have figured out how to slide down a hill on something hard, surely every kid who lives where it snows has tried something of the sort, therefore it would be unfair to say someone invented the snowboard.

There were some people who built snowboards like sleds, one of which was “Jack” Burchett. This man is the first recorded to try anything like snowboarding, therefore deserves a slot in snowboarding history. What he did was cut out a piece of wood from a plank and then attempted to secure both his feet to the wood with horse reins and clothesline, this was in 1929.

Nothing was recorded for the snowboarding history for 30 years after this incident, but in 1965 a man named Sherman Poppen invented The Snurfer as a play toy for his young daughter. He made it by tying together two skis and attaching a strong rope to the nose, so that the rider could hold it to maintain balance and stability.

His daughter began to use her “new toy” frequently, and eventually all her friends and their friends wanted a Snurfer too. Not long after his “invention”, Poppen had licensed his invention to a well known manufacturer, where by the year 1966 the Snurfer sold more than half a million pieces.

After a lot of “playing” with the Snurfer, which was seen to be a kids sport or activity, a real snowboard was eventually made in 1969. Dimitrije Milovich came up with the idea of snowboarding when he had taken a likely to sliding down hills on cafeteria trays from college.

He began making snowboards and even had some articles published in newspapers and magazines about his new found sport. This helped in getting the sport known and popular. Soon many people knew about it and went to “Winterstick” which was the name of the company Milovich started in 1972, and bought themselves a snowboard.
Some other people took a liking to making, or attempting to make snowboards after Milovich left his business in 1980.

They made different kinds of boards; some of these original ideas are still used today, just slightly modified to suit today’s technology. Snowboarding history goes back a long way, but today it has come to be a very popular sport that thousands take part in each year.

Snowboarding basics

Snowboarding can take some time to get used to. It will take several tries before you finally get the hang of it. After that, practice makes perfect. It is much like riding a bike or roller skating. You never forget how to snowboard once you learn, but your technique might be a little rusty until you practice.

Choosing the correct board for your body type will make a world of difference. If you choose the wrong type of board, it could cause you to have a hard time learning how to snowboard. If you are renting a snowboard from a ski lodge, there are usually people there to help you choose the correct one. If you are buying a board, the store clerks are very educated about the topic as well.

If you already know how to ski, you will find that snowboarding is very similar. Make sure that you keep your entire body relaxed. If you tense up, it could cause you to have an injury. While learning to snowboard, it is very easy to tense up when you get frustrated. Try to block that frustration out, because it will cause you to have a serious mishap. Bend your knees as you make a jump. Your legs will take the shock off of your ankles.

Freestyle boards are very appropriate for those who are just beginning to learn how to snowboard. It is much easier to turn a freestyle board than it is to turn a regular board. A freestyle board does not have a curve at the front and it is shorter and much wider than a normal board. A freeride board is very modern. Because it is long and thin, it allows you to go on all different types of jumps and terrain.

Once you become advanced at snowboarding, you may want to try an alpine or race board. These types of boards are often found in competitions. They are thin, much more thinner than the freeride boards. They allow the rider to go very fast and make quicker turns. The nose is slightly curved, while the back is completely flat.

Before you try to go down the hill, strap one foot in the front harness and ride on a flat area to see how the board performs. If you are comfortable with the board, strap the back foot in and ride the hill. You front foot is your steering wheel. Press your heel down and then lift your toe up. Then move your hips backward. This is basically all there is to snowboarding. When you are ready to stop, turn so that you are looking up the hill.

Planning a camping trip is fun, but you need to have the proper camping equipment to make the time more enjoyable. You want a portable propane grill for those times when you do not want to cook over an open fire. Since you have the portable grill, you might want a fire extinguisher as well. You will want to have a sturdy table to place the portable grill on so you do not have to bend down to the ground.

Some Popular Camping Equipment

Camping equipment such as a lantern is nice for hanging from a sturdy tree branch to illuminate the areas away from the camper and fire. This is also nice for deterring wild animals from sneaking up on you. On the other hand, some people use deck lights on a string to light up the campsite. You can find these items in camping equipment stores as well as garden shops.

If you plan to camp for long periods, you are probably going to want a screen tent. This is also found in a camping equipment store. They come in different sizes with or without privacy flaps. The ones with the privacy flaps are nice for nighttime sitting. You can put your television outside, sit down, and relax in the comfort of the screen tent without anyone seeing you.

The next part of your camping equipment is the sleeping bag. Even if you have a pop up camper, you might want some sleeping bags. They have different ratings and different styles available. The sleeping bag should be rated for cold weather even if you plan to use them in the summer. Some summer nights can be cool, especially is certain areas.

Camping equipment includes utensils, cookware, dishes and water bottles. These are the standard camping needs, you might have more, but the basics are what will get you by when camping. The water bottles are nice because they are capped and it prevents bugs from entering your drinks.

Camping Equipment For The Roughing Camper

If you are serious about roughing it when you go camping, you are going to follow a checklist of what is necessary for roughing it as well as camping. You are going to need a tent, sleeping bag, camp stove, dishes, utensils and pans, hunting knife, hydration packs, cooler and a flashlight. You will also need a first aid kit, compass and plastic bags. As long as you have the basics, you will have some fun camping.

Camping Games Can Provide Fun And Entertainment

Even the most avid campers may suffer from boredom occasionally, especially young children who are constantly hoping to stay active during the trip. Once they bored of fishing and hiking the parents may want to involve them in some camping games to provide fun as well of some learning activities to help make the time pass more quickly. Unless the family has brought their own games from home, they will have to improvise with whatever the camping area provides to devise their own camping games.

In camping areas where several families are close together, playing camping games is considerably easier as they can involve different people. A simple game of kick the can provides hours of hid and seek fun for everyone involved in the game. The object is for one person to be the one designated to seek first. They hide their eyes while the rest of the campers hide. The object is for the person who is “it” to find the others before they can run to a home “base” and kick an empty can. The person who is found first will be “it” for the next round.

For smaller groups, a parent can devise a list of items typically found in the campground or on the trail and host a scavenger hunt. In these types of camping games, it is important to not allow small children to venture too far away from the parent’s campsite.

All Games Should Stress Safety Among Participants

Water baseball is one of the most commonly played of the camping games, using a tennis ball that still floats and a small bat. However, only children who are excellent swimmers should participate in these camping games, and only under adult supervision. Ideally, it is played with home plate and the bases in water not more than about a foot deep and the fun begins when someone hits the ball and tried to run the bases.

In larger campgrounds, camping games can include having the kids venture through the camp to see how many different license plates they can find within a limited area. They can use a pencil and paper to track their progress. Many travel games designed for use in the car can also be adapted to serve as camping games.

One word of caution is that when playing camping games, respect for others in the campground should always be practiced. Loud laughter and running can be fun for those participating in the games, but those other campers trying to take a nap may not be appreciative.

What Type Of Camping Gear Do You Need

The proper camping gear is what is going to make your camping trip fun and exciting as well as safe. You will need the tent or camper for sure, but you also need gear such as pet camping supplies if you have a pet along, flashlights, a portable grill, lawn furniture, coolers, and heaters and insect repellent. If you think about it, you will probably need it when you are camping. This goes for your cooking supplies, bedding, and cleaning and bathing supplies. When you go camping, you do need some camping gear to be happy and safe.

Pet Camping Gear

The number one thing on your list for pet camping gear should be the pet tag that is motion activated. This going to help you see the dog, but also allows others to see the dog when it is pitch black outside. This is going to protect your pet and others from a potentially dangerous encounter. You should also include a dog bed or a lounger for them. The lounger is nice because it keeps them off the ground. The pet gear should also include a first aid kit, toys and enough food and water. Different water sources can affect a dog’s body and can cause diarrhea.

Other Camping Gear

You might even need to bring along a repair kit for your camper top or tent. If you do discover a leak, you are going to need to repair it even if it is temporary, so you do not have any rain or bugs getting inside. Camping gear should also include a first aid kit. No one knows for sure that they will not cut their finger or need some antibiotic cream. You should also have plenty of batteries or a rechargeable battery for the any of your gear that requires batteries.

You should also have camping gear that includes binoculars, hunting knife, and rain gear and of course, tin foil. Once you have everything you need, you should be all set to get out on the road and find a great place to camp. Camping equipment is actually anything that you think you might need. Some people will not need the pet camping gear, but some may need gear for kids. The idea behind camping is to have everything that is going to make it fun, safe and relaxing. Whatever you need to accomplish this should be a part of your camping gear.
